Jollof Rice Made from Varo Jollof Sauce
Jollof Rice isn't merely a dish; it's a celebration of diversity and heritage of West Africa - a staple at celebrations and family gatherings. Jollof Rice is a harmonious blend of rice, tomatoes, peppers, and a medley of spices. Here's how to make it at home using our very own Varo Jollof Sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 bottle Varo Jollof Sauce Medium
- 60ml vegetable oil
- 400g washed rice
- 80g tomato paste
- 700ml of water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a sauce pan, add vegetable oil and allow to heat up
- Empty bottle of Varo Jollof Sauce Medium into already heated oil and leave to cook for 1 minute
- Add tomato paste and a pinch of salt and stir to combine. Allow to fry for 3 minutes
- Pour rice into the tomato mix and stir thoroughly to combine. Cover and leave to cook for 2 minutes under low heat
- Add water to the rice and cook under low heat till sauce is absorbed, stirring thoroughly every 5 to 10 minutes
- Your Jollof Rice might burn a little at the bottom, but not to worry, that's what gives it that "Smoky Jollof " flavour
