Unlike the popular Lasagna recipe which is an Italian dish made of layers of pasta sheets, meat sauce, cheese, and sometimes vegetables, our Plasagna recipe is made with fried plantain layered with cheese, mince sauce and the Varo Jollof Sauce. It can be served as a main course with a side of garlic bread and fresh salad.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle Varo Jollof Sauce MEDIUM
- 3 Plantains
- 400g Minced Meat
- 175g Cheese Pasta Sauce
- 125g Grated Mozzarella
- 100ml Vegetable oil
- ½ Red Onion
- Salt to Taste
Instructions
- Slice plantains lengthwise into strips and air fry until golden brown
- Fry onions in vegetable oil, then add minced meat and cook, stirring until brown
- Add Varo Jollof Sauce and continue to stir until you have a rich, thick sauce
- Spread half of the fried plantain in an oven-proof dish, then a layer of mince sauce
- Drizzle over with Varo Jollof Sauce, then cheese pasta sauce
- Spread the rest of the fried plantain on top
- Scatter grated mozzarella over the top
- Bake at 180º for 20 minutes, until top is bubbling and lightly brown
