How to make Vegan Dirty Rice with Varo Jollof Sauce

Dirty Rice, a Creole classic, gets its name from the rich spices that give it a deep, flavourful color. We’re giving it a plant-based twist with bold Varo Jollof Sauce! Packed with flavour and heartiness, this Vegan Dirty Rice is perfect for a wholesome, satisfying meal. Let’s cook!

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Varo Jollof Sauce
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup canned beans, drained
- 1/2 cup mushroom crumbles
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
1. Heat olive oil, sauté onion until softened (1 min).
2. Add bell pepper and garlic, cook for 2 mins.
3. Stir in Varo Jollof Sauce, add rice, cover, and cook for 1 min.
4. Pour in water, beans, mushrooms, paprika, thyme, oregano, cayenne.
5. Reduce heat, simmer for 10-15 mins until rice absorbs the flavours.
6. Season with salt and pepper.
